Monument of the Battle in Pavliani

At the entrance of Pavliani there is a monument dedicated to the victims of the “Battle of Pavliani”, which took place on 3rd June 1943. When the Greek forces of EAM-ELAS  were informed of the the execution that were going to do the Italian conquerors, they united in the face of a common purpose, to restrain them. The area of Parnassus-Pavliani was of a great strategic importance to the Italians, so the Greek forces strengthened the area of Pavliani. In this battle not only the EAM-ELAS partiscipated but also the whole villageof all ages. Eventually the Italian forces were repelled and retreated. The Italian conquerors lost much of their potential.
