Folklore Museum of Oiti

Folklore Museum of Oiti

The Folklore Museum of Oiti was founded in 2018 with the initiative of the Local Community of Oiti and the Association of Otaion in collaboration with the Municipality of Lamia. The museum is housed in a two-storey renovated building near the main square of the village. The aim of its creation was to preserve the tradition and customs of the region in a space of modern minimalist character.

It is a place with a strong folklore and artistic quality. It disposes traditional exhibits from everyday life, tools and objects from agricultural and livestock activities, traditional costumes and woven material, rich photographic material, pre-war treasures and banknotes as well as historical documents and documents mentioning the pre-war name of the area as “Gardiki”.

Along with the traditional and historical exhibits there is also a painting exhibition of the artist Odysseas Kotsibou as well as a demostration of local products and dishes. There is also a conference room  in the building.
